Lincoln is a fifteen-minute city: nothing is far, so the only real question is whether you want to walk your evenings or drive them.
Haymarket — best for a first visit
Restaurants, bars, the Saturday market and Pinnacle Bank Arena all outside the door, with Memorial Stadium a ten-minute walk. Normal-weekend rates land around $130–$190; event weekends are a different universe.
Downtown / capitol area — best for business
Quieter than the Haymarket, walkable to state offices and the convention space, and usually a little cheaper for the same class of room.
Compare Lincoln hotels by area
Haymarket, downtown, campus and highway options side by side, most with free cancellation.

Near campus — best for university visits
Handy for move-in, graduation and parents' weekends — and completely booked out on all three. If your trip is tied to the university calendar, book the moment dates are announced.
North Lincoln & the interstate corridor — best value
Suite hotels with free parking, free breakfast and pools, typically 30% under downtown. Ten minutes from everything, which in Lincoln is not a real inconvenience.
Dates that change the price
- Husker home football Saturdays (September–November) — the single biggest factor.
- Graduation and move-in weekends (May and August).
- State high school tournaments in March.
- Large arena concerts — check the Pinnacle Bank Arena calendar before booking.
Airport transfers
Pre-booked pickup from Lincoln or Omaha if you'd rather skip the rental counter.
